Malvina is an evil witch who was once in love with and married to Sir Herbert Wellingford, the nobleman in the painting. She became angry with him when he proposed to another witch and cursed him by zapping him into a portrait which now hangs in the Tower of London museum. The curse was supposed to last for one-thousand years, but Samantha is able to break the curse and zap him out. Malvina appears and makes Samantha put Sir Herbert back into the painting. She then sends Samantha back in time to King Henry VIII's court in the sixteenth century.
